Description
The Investment Committee assists the Board in its fiduciary responsibility to oversee the prudent management of Society's financial investments. The Committee recommends and reviews investment policy and professional investment managers. The committee monitors and reviews the investment manager's performance in meeting the expected investment returns within the expressed risk tolerance guidelines. The Committee assesses spending sustainability and recommends annual allocations to operations that honor the intent of the donors and the purpose of each fund and, in the case of the WASE Fund, determines the annual spending amount. The Committee will periodically (recommended every four months) review the most current Statement of Financial Position and Statements of Activities to ensure that the finances are being managed in a manner most beneficial to the Society. The Committee also reviews periodically (recommended every four months) the most recent investment report and receives a presentation by the professional investment manager on the Society portfolio performance. Committee composition: a chair and 4 members, plus the Treasurer, Treasurer-elect and Executive Director, who serve as non-voting ex officio members. Ideally the chair and at least one member shall be former treasurers.
