The Oregon Archaeological Society (OAS), a non-profit organization, was founded in 1951. OAS stresses the importance of working with professional archaeologists in the advancement of knowledge, and educating the public. To that end OAS adopted a code of ethics, recognizing the importance of State and Federal laws which protect archaeological sites.
